Camping in the cooler temps of fall and winter can be a little more of a challenge unless you are prepared with the right gear to ward off the cold. Many campers know to get a warmer sleeping bag than they use in the summer, but they forget that sleeping on the ground robs you of your body even with the best of sleeping bags. One way to help insulate your body from that cold ground so your sleeping bag will be more effective is to use a camping pad or even an air mattress to get something between you and your bag. This will help you retain more body heat and be warmer despite the cooler temps at night.
