Backpackers have a very limited amount of space to pack the things they will need on their trip in their bag. For many their sleeping bag is the bulkiest thing in their pack and takes up more space that could be used for more food or rain gear they may need on the way. One way to alleviate this is to pack your sleeping bags and other soft goods into compression sacks. These sacks are designed to help pack down things like sleeping bags and down jackets so they are at their smallest and take up the least amount of space possible making room for the other things you may need on your hike.
