Of course there is nothing really wrong with using an adult size sleeping bag for your child when you are camping but for a warmer nights sleep they are better off in one that fits them better. A sleeping bag is designed to keep your warm by helping you retain your own natural body heat. Therefore a sleeping bag with less extra air space has less area for your body to warm up, so that you end up being warmer in the night. Kids sleeping bags are specially designed for them and their size and will provide them a better nights sleep than a full size adult sleeping bag.
