If you are considering heading out for a winter camping trip when you have never done this before it is probably a good idea that you do not stray far or do a test run in a somewhat controlled environment. There are many things about camping in the winter that can make a trip pure excitement and things that can really bring it down. Little things like setting up your tent and using your camping stove can be more difficult when the temperatures are cold. Making sure that your gear works and that your sleeping bag is warm enough for you is essential before you head off to far into the wilderness.
