As the nights get cooler camping can still be fun if you are ready for the temperature change that occurs this time of year. Of course having a campfire is one of the best ways to stay warm but not all campgrounds allow you to have an open fire. One way to still have a campfire and stay within the rules and regulations is with a Camp Chef fire pit. This pit allows you to have a fire that is not built from a fire ring but is contained in the copper fire pot. This will ensure that your fire is a safe one yet is still warm to keep you and your camp mates toasty on those cool fall evenings.

One mistake many campers make when trying to sleep outdoors in the fall and winter is tucking their nose and mouth into their sleeping bags to be warmer while they sleep. While this may work at first and warm up your face as the night progresses the condensation inside your sleeping bag collects and begins to freeze the insulation making it useless in helping you retain your body heat throughout the night. Instead get a balaclava or other piece of clothing that covers your mouth and nose and cinch your head up in the drawstring hood of your sleeping bag. This will help you stay warm all night long despite the much cooler temps outside.

When you are camping in the late fall and winter it can be a challenge if you are not properly prepared with the right gear to make your trip a success. Most experienced campers know to bring a warmer sleeping bag and have the proper tent for the cooler temperatures, but many neglect to consider the food they eat. In cooler temps your body needs more fuel and hot food and drinks to help it stoke its internal furnace so it can keep you warm despite the weather. Having a Camp Chef stove and plenty of good food as well as tea and hot cocoa to drink will help you stay much warmer than if you drink only water and consume cold meals.

Camping in the cooler temps of fall and winter can be a little more of a challenge unless you are prepared with the right gear to ward off the cold. Many campers know to get a warmer sleeping bag than they use in the summer, but they forget that sleeping on the ground robs you of your body even with the best of sleeping bags. One way to help insulate your body from that cold ground so your sleeping bag will be more effective is to use a camping pad or even an air mattress to get something between you and your bag. This will help you retain more body heat and be warmer despite the cooler temps at night.

If you are shopping for the warmest sleeping bag available than you should consider getting a down filled bag over a synthetic filled sleeping bag. Synthetic bags have come a very long way and are extremely warm but they still cannot match the weight to warmth ratio that down sleeping bags have so easily. The down used in these bags traps air in between the fill better making for more insulation and this is something that man made synthetics just cannot accomplish as well. This also will mean that a down sleeping bag will be not only warmer but they will weigh less if you plan on backpacking and have to carry that bag into your camp site.

If you have traveled recently than you know the high price of not only gasoline, but also for the food and drinks you pick up when you are on the road with your family. One way to reduce the cost at the convenience store is to have a camping cooler packed in the car that is already packed with cool drinks and some snacks. Of course keeping these snacks and drinks cool over many days can be even easier if your use one of the thermoelectric Coleman coolers that plug into your 12V source on your automobile, this will mean you can have plenty of cool drinks and will not need any ice to keep them that way even on the road.

Many people who love the outdoors spend the fall months hunting wild game to fill their family’s freezer for the winter. Outside of enjoying the flavor or this wild meat this also helps these families cut down on food costs, which in the current economy is a very good thing. Camp Chef has lots of supplies for the hunter who wants to smoke and process their own meat at home to ensure that the food they are putting on the table is not full of preservatives. The smokers are perfect not only for the hunter who wants to preserve the animals they bring home but also for those who love to get hams and turkeys to smoke, bringing out unique flavors in the meat.

For years many backpackers have tolerated very bright colors in their camping tents and sleeping bags because that is what they manufacturers produced. But many of them did not like how their small quaint little home away from home stuck out in the wilderness like a sore thumb. Some of the backpacking gear companies listened and now you can get lightweight sleeping bags and Coleman tents that come in Earth tones to better blend in with the backcountry. These tents and bags are lightweight and everything a backpacker wants in their gear including natural hued so that they can blend in and enjoy their time in the wilderness.

If you are looking for a camp stove that can cook for a very large group than look no further than the stoves from Camp Chef. There are camping stoves from Camp Chef that come in three and even four burner models which provides plenty of cooking space if you find yourself cooking for a large group out camping. Leaders of Boy Scout troops and hiking groups love these grills so they can quickly cook enough food for everyone on all these large easy to use grills. With smaller stoves it would mean cooking just a few things at a time making it take much longer to get the group fed and off to enjoy the outdoors.

As the outside temperatures get a little cooler some just pack up their camping gear and put it away until the spring, while others know this is some of the best times to go camping and make sure they have the gear they need to stay comfortable while they are out. One thing you can add to your camping tent to ward off the chill that is in the air in the early morning and late evenings is a Coleman portable heater. These little units are perfect for heating up small spaces such as your tent and can make getting changed for bed or for the day totally comfortable despite the temperatures outside.

No matter how much you spend on your camping tent the weak point in every single one is the seams. The seam where the material comes together is a point where leaks can occur in the tent in heavy downpours or even in a light drizzle depending on the tent. Cheaper tents are more prone to this but a expensive tent can have this occur as well. Luckily there is something you can do to prevent it no matter how much you spent on your camping tent. Using a seam sealer on all the seams will create a barrier that water will have a hard time leaking through to get to you. This is cheap and easy to apply to everyone should use it whether they think their tent leaks at the seams or not.

For many tent owners the part of their camping tent, which tears up first or gets out right lost are the tent stakes. Luckily there are lots of tent stakes available that you can replace the original stakes from your tent with. Coleman has several types of tent stake available to choose from to best get the ones that will anchor your tent in the ground you will be camping on. From plastic to aluminum and steel these tent stakes are usually tougher than the original stakes and come in a bundle large enough you can replace just those missing from your set or all of them and get your Coleman camping tent anchored securely to the ground.

The fall colors are in various stages across the US from just beginning to turn to those at the full peak of color. Many areas are reporting spectacular fall colors this year do to the right amounts of moisture and the correct temperatures to promote the trees to be their brightest. This coming weekend is a excellent time to pack your family and their camping gear and head out to enjoy those colors together outdoors. As long as everyone in your group has a warm sleeping bag and there is a quality camping tent available the cooler temperatures will not detract from your camping experience but add to it.

As the weather turns colder in the mountains those who are brave enough to head out on camping trips in these colder temperatures have different conditions from those of summer campers to deal with. If it is cold enough out it is highly possible that water and other liquids can freeze overnight so that when you get up there is nothing to drink until they thaw out. Of course if you place your drinks in a Coleman cooler overnight the cooler will keep them from freezing in most outside temperatures. Camping coolers do a great job of keeping whatever is inside them one constant temperature despite the current outdoor temperature be that hot or cold.

My family loves Asian food and yet we were never really able to make great stir frys or tossed vegetables with lo mein noodles until we got the Camp Chef wok for our outdoor kitchen set. This wok also has a wok ring available, which concentrates the heat into one spot as well as provides a stable place to sit the pan while you are cooking. The wok is already perfectly seasoned and ready to go and has a non-stick surface for easy cooking and even easier clean up. Add a little Asian style to your next camping trip with one of these handy Camp Chef woks.

Many of us grew up watching old movies where the cowboys cooked in a dutch oven over a fire with a tripod over an open flame. Of course I eventually had to give this a try myself and I have to admit the food was fantastic. Not only was making a meal for my family a breeze this way, it opened up a lot of recipes I would not have been able to make on top of a camping grill or stove. You and your kids will love to use these Camp Chef tripods along with a dutch oven to create new and exciting dishes to eat on your camping trips.
