Coleman camping stoves are some of the absolute best for the individual camper and even for large groups but no matter how good the stove is incorrect use of it can result in accidents. Your Coleman stove should always be placed on a level surface that is not flammable. You should never leave your stove unattended in case something goes wrong while it is lit and operating. Also let your Coleman stove completely cool off before packing it away or refueling it for the next use. If used properly these stoves will last for years and give you no problems what so ever throughout that time.

If you live in the desert southwest early to mid spring is some of the best times to head out camping with your family. The day time temperatures are just right while the night time temps do not get too terrible cold. Of course setting up a tent on the rock and sand can be a little difficult though. Getting stacks into the rock is impossible and if you do manage to get them into the sand they will shift and your tent will end up saggy. These are one of the times a freestanding Coleman camping tent is ideal since the stacks do not support the tent but rather the poles do.

As the economy continues to be tight and we all cinch up our belts to save our money during these rough times it can make entertaining the family a little tough. But as spring break approaches we have decided we are going to head out camping as a family instead of going a trip elsewhere this year. There is no better way to spend time together as a family than in the woods and since our Coleman camping tent and sleeping bags are paid for the cost will be minimal as long as we do not try and head to a campgrounds that is too far away. What better way to reconnect and spend time together while saving a little extra money?

If you are considering heading out for a winter camping trip when you have never done this before it is probably a good idea that you do not stray far or do a test run in a somewhat controlled environment. There are many things about camping in the winter that can make a trip pure excitement and things that can really bring it down. Little things like setting up your tent and using your camping stove can be more difficult when the temperatures are cold. Making sure that your gear works and that your sleeping bag is warm enough for you is essential before you head off to far into the wilderness.

We all hope that we have beautiful weather when we go camping but once in awhile you encounter some rain or moisture that gets your entire gear wet. This can make getting your gear packed and stowed for the trip home a little soggy and will create more work for you once you do get home. It is essential that you unpack those wet camping tents and sleeping bags as soon as possible and give them plenty of time to dry before you put them back into storage. Failure to do this will result in mold and mildew ruining your camping gear so that you will be required to replace it all in the future.

One thing many hikers and backpackers come across in the spring are rivers and streams that are heavy with the melting snow pack and spring rains. Crossing these waterways can be difficult if you are carrying a heavy daypack or camping backpack since the extra weight can throw off your balance. One solution to this is to carry trekking poles while you hike. These handy poles not only help you as you walk but when you are crossing streams having one or two of these will help give you the extra balance you need to make swollen spring rivers a little bit easier on your next hike.

We want to take care of our children at all times but one fear that many parents have is that our children will wonder off when we are camping and get lost in the woods. We hear stories of children that miraculous make it through the night exposed to cold temperatures with no food and water but if this can be avoided we would love to keep it from happening.
Our friends at Amber Alert GPS has a great child locator device that you can place in your child’s pocket or backpack that will allow you to locate them via GPS coordinates with your web enabled cell phone instantly. Of course the unit will need to have access to the satellites and you will need a cell phone signal for this to work on your camping trips but so much of the country is now covered that the chances are good you can use this to prevent a unexpected night in the woods alone for your child.

After a long winter I always enjoy doing a little spring-cleaning with my camping gear to ensure that my upcoming camping season goes as smoothly as possible and I enjoy many great trips into the backcountry. It is always a good idea to get out your sleeping bags and camping tents and air them out, make sure there are no holes, and maybe even seam seal that tent to prevent leaks. Open up the Coleman stove and lantern and make sure both are clean and that they light up right the first time after being put away for the past few months. By finding problems with your camping gear now instead of later when you are on your first trip you will not run into unexpected problems that can spoil your first outing.

If you are like most outdoorsman you love to take your dog camping with you and your family. Our best friends enjoy spending as much time in the woods as we do and make great company on the trail. Of course they can get your camping tent and Coleman sleeping bag really dirty unless they have a bed of their very own to sleep on. There are all kinds of camping gear items for pets so that they can head out on our camping trips with us but yet also have their own items so that yours does not get too dirty and covered in dog hair.

Getting that Coleman sleeping bag packed away again after a camping trip is sometimes tough to do. But getting that bag folded back to tie up with straps or place into a stuff sack is not that tough once you get the steps down. Start by laying the sleeping bag completely flat and zip it all the way up. Fold the sleeping bag in half lengthwise and make sure it is flat. Then start rolling the bag from the head toward the feet as snugly as possible. Once you get to the feet some models include sewn on straps that you can loop around the bundle and tie or you can place the rolled up sleeping bag into a stuff sack and you are ready to go.

Coleman sleeping bags are some of the best available for campers who want quality but do not want to pay too much for a name. Some of the so-called high-end camping gear ends up costing more simply because you are paying more for the label that is attached to the sleeping bag. In many cases these items are simply not worth the extra money you pay and many campers are using Coleman sleeping bags, tents, and so much more and having a great time in the outdoors with this gear that works great but leaves you extra money for the gas tank to travel to your destination.

If you are like me when you put your camping gear away at the end of last fall you tried to store it away so that it would all be like new when you get it back out for this spring. But I sometimes slack a little and one thing I am bad about is leaving a little moisture in my Coleman cooler when I put it away. This leads to a bad smell and I am not a scientist but I am sure there are bacteria as well. Luckily these camping coolers are easy to clean up with baking soda and water to make them seem like they were the day I bought them despite my lackadaisical treatment of the cooler.

If you know someone who had camped for a long time and used a Coleman lantern as their lighting source, the chances are they still have the first one they bought and it works perfectly. With proper care and cleaning a Coleman propane lantern can last almost forever. Care is as simple as wiping clean with water and mild soap and storing the unit properly. To store remove the excess fluid to avoid lacquer build up and place it in a plastic bag that is securely closed with a twist tie. These steps will ensure that your Coleman lantern is ready to light up your camp on each and every outing you take.

When many campers are shopping for their camping stove the question comes up on what type of fuel the unit will operate on. Many stoves can only run on unleaded fuel or Coleman camping fuel so the buyer needs to decide which they would rather use to fuel their stove. Coleman camping stoves though has models which will run on both types making them some of the most versatile stoves available to the camper who wants to have the option based on what is more readily available to them at the time. These stoves are extremely efficient and are everything you would expect from a Coleman camping gear product.

One of the most convenient accessories you can add to your Camp Chef grill is a lid holder. When you are cooking at your campgrounds finding a place to sit the lid of your camping grill while you check the food can be tough. But with this add on from Camp Chef you can simply slide the lid back on the grill and leave your hands free for turning the food. This one simple tool for your grill can actually make you a better cook since you can focus on the food and not on being an octopus while you are cooking it.

For those who have Camp Chef stoves and want to be able to use them more as a camping grill for preparing their meal there is now an option for that. Camp Chef makes handy grill boxes that will covert just about any one of their stoves from a burner type to a grill. This allows you to use your stove to grill meat and veggies over a grill that creates a restaurant quality taste in your food. These grill boxes are easy to use with your grill with no additional items necessary to make them a convenient way to get grilled food on your next campout.

Foldable chairs aren’t just for camping, although they certainly do make the trip more comfortable. I once forgot to take a chair for a day at the beach, and spent the entire afternoon repositioning myself in the sand in an attempt to find a comfortable position. Alas, I now keep two Coleman chairs in the trunk of my car at all times. You never know when the urge might strike to stop at the local park or lake for a short afternoon snack break!

A nice folding chair is a necessity for any picnic, fishing or camping trip, and even the backyard barbeque. No need for anything else, really, when a good Coleman chair has so much to offer. Just think about a camping or RV trip you have taken. Sitting by the campfire at night, or at the edge of the lake watching for the slightest twitch on the fishing line, wouldn’t be nearly as inviting were it not for a foldable chair. Why foldable? Simple! There’s no room to bring the Lazyboy on a trip to the mountains!

What I like the most about the Coleman Quad chair is its size. Oversized is always a good thing when you want to sit back and relax by the warmth of the fire. This chair measures a whopping 36 ¼” wide. I could fit both of my kids in a seat that size! When it’s me in the seat, I like as much comfort as I can get, so the fact that this chair has a padded seat and back is a plus.

The other thing that I keep in mind when choosing a folding chair is weight. As a parent, I’m always clamoring about with more in my hands than I should have, so lightweight chairs that stay closed when carried are on the top of my list. This chair weighs only 10 pounds, perfect for those who overload, like me.

Now here’s something really cool about the Coleman Quad Chair.

It has a Soft Cooler

I’ve had chairs that have a drink holder in the arm. We’ve all probably had just such a chair. This chair has that feature as well. But what it has that’s even better is the built in cooler on the side. This 3″ x 8″ x 8″cooler holds 3-4 cans of my favorite beverage and 1 Small Chiller™ Brite Ice®. This means that I don’t have to leave my chair for a refill; I can simply reach over and grab a drink without disrupting my tanning time.

On the other side is a small pouch where I can secure my magazine for easy access. Ah, this is the life! If you’re like me, and desire convenience even when you’re “roughing it”, you may appreciate this chair as much as I do. Easy to pack and carry, easy to set up, just plain easy. For me, there’s no better accessory to have on any outdoor adventure the family leads me to!

When you are camping there is nothing like a Coleman cooler for keeping your perishables cool and safe to eat, but for foods that do not need to be kept cool packing them along can be a challenge. With models even available in waterproof designs these food storage containers are perfect for the food items which do not need to be carried in your camping cooler so it all arrives safely and is protected from wild critters while you are there.

Too many hikers set off on the trail without the basic necessities they need in case of any emergency in their backpacks. For some it is a matter of now knowing what items they should pack while for others it is just because they have not taken the time to create a small emergency kit. Coleman camping gear has a convenient survival kit that has all the basic necessities in one easy to carry pouch that you can have in the bottom of your daypack or Coleman backpack in case you or someone in your group should have an accident that needs attention or if the weather turns the trip into more than what you expected.
